Amazing place, shame there are so many tourists Razz

Don't eat anywhere in or around Saint Marks, it ridiculously overpriced and of poor standard, venture deep and get lost. There's nowhere like it.

Hope you enjoy it Tweeds.

It was last month waft Wink

The food was generally abysmal but we were located away from the centre so found some good and cheap local cuisine ok

Going away (until the first week of January) tomorrow, so today will be the last day I'm around all day. After that I'll probably only drop in briefly to do my predictions and comment on Barca's CL draw and World Club cup performance.

Should be off to Barcelona in June. 16th I am going....so just in time for the last weekend of the Spanish season. Could go to Espanyol vs Depor unless it is moved to the Saturday.

So spending the time driving around northern Spain and just having a good break from life in Britain.

hello everybody.

got back yesterday from some holidays in sunny Sussex/Kent while it rained almost continuously in Spain.

Then returned Sunday night by car, crossing France from Calais to Perpignan in a record 9,5 hours and having a good rest.

yes, we had a look around the following places:

Hastings (we stayed there) - has potential but seems to be a bit low-class and dirty. It does have a fabulous park in the city so living next to that would be OK.

Canterbury - beautiful centre but perhaps somewhat too touristy.

Tunbridge Wells - can we afford anything there? besides, the centre doesn't have much

Maidstone - nice enough and has a nice big park near the centre as well. We may consider it if I get a job at our company's offices there.

Eastborne - impressed us most. Clean, lovely beach front, nice centre, parks, etc. Not sure how expensive it is.

I think we are quite set on trying to get over to the UK. The south has a nice enough climate as well and even though people are perhaps not as friendly as they are up north it is still home for my wife. I myself am quite flexible. The job change is the most difficult tbh.

Eastborne has a big reputation fo being a sliver haven - its full of old people, disturbingly so - which may also be why its cheap.

Having said that, there are lots of younger people as well and as a result of the old people there it has a god community spirit and low crime rates.

Canterbury centre is gorgeous but as a result the prices are quite high.

I've never been to Maidstone.

Did you get to have a look at Ashford? though it may be a bit expensive now with the fast line into london
