As I suspected.

Quote:
Hleb rejects reports of a fall-out with Wenger and Fábregas'Arsenal is dear to me, I am grateful to Wenger for everything he has done for me'
Paolo Bandini guardian.co.uk, Tuesday July 8, 2008

Alexander Hleb has rejected claims that he has fallen out with the Arsenal manager Arsène Wenger and his team-mate Cesc Fábregas. Reports this morning had Hleb criticising Wenger's tactics and accusing Fábregas of being selfish, but it now appears some of the statements attributed to the player may have come from a misquoted interview he gave to a Belarussian website.

"In some newspapers it was mentioned that I have attacked Arsène Wenger and Cesc Fábregas," said Hleb on his personal website. "This is not true! I would never ever say something disrespectful about them. And there is a simple reason for this: Cesc is a very good friend of mine and Arsène is one of the persons I respect most."

An interview with www.tut.by appears to have been the source of a comment in which Hleb accused Fábregas of being "selfish", but viewed in its proper context was far less damning than many newspapers have made out.

"Cesc and I understand each other very well on the field," said Hleb in the original interview. "It is very, very pleasurable for me to play with him. He's a very pleasant guy both in life and as a footballer. He is just more egoistic in goal-scoring opportunities, if he had a chance to score, he always used it, unlike me."

"I am grateful to Wenger for everything he has done for me," he added of his manager. "He is the best coach in my career. And not just a coach. He is a very good man and intuitive psychologist. I very much appreciate his support."

Hleb is still expected to leave Arsenal this summer, with Barcelona his most likely destination after he admitted a fondness for the club. Nevertheless, he insisted that there was "no better club" in the Premier League, and admitted it would be hard to walk away.

"I talked to [Wenger] twice before the end of the season. It is also not that easy for me to leave this club, because it has become my home. I think he is upset, though it is better to ask him, maybe he is glad."

He also rejected reports that he had spoken to Internazionale officials before Arsenal's Champions League win over Milan at the San Siro.

"It's all rubbish, people made up some ice cream story," he insisted. "Really, I only gave away tickets, as the son of my agent Nikolai Shpilevski came to the match, I passed on tickets for him through these people. They were not Inter representatives. I have spoken to Wenger about this numerous times. We have a normal relationship."

Is this a recent comment from an interview?

You don't need to pay the £36m "asking price" to get Adebayor. It was just that the £24m you offered was too low. I think he is out of Arsenal for around £30m.

I was thinking the other day which players might be useful if you can't meet the valuation. Would you be prepared to offer someone like Kaladze into any deal?

Galliani says a lot of things, and 99% of the time the world would benefit from him shutting his mouth. If he is negotiating with Arsenal then fine, but no one needs comments like these (as is demonstrated by the frustration expressed by you Milan fans) because a) I'm sure Adebayor would be happy staying at Arsenal or going to Barcelona if the (financial) conditions are right b) they come on the back of him apparently saying that Arsenal are making it impossible to sign him, and c) He has been making stupid, irritating, and contradictory comments all summer long.
We would all benefit from this saga not receiving a running commentary from Galliani.

Hmm...considering we are struggling in defence, probably not. Kaladze has been a good performer for us this season. I think it will be cash, if anything.

Milan: "Arsenal want Adebayor talks"

Arsenal sent a letter confirming they are ready to negotiate for Emmanuel Adebayor, announced Milan chief Adriano Galliani.

“Today Arsenal sent us a letter in which they declare themselves ready to negotiate with us for Adebayor,” said the general manager on television station Antenna 3.

“He has said he only wants to play for us. This is definitely a step in the right direction.

“Now there is only one very difficult obstacle separating us - the asking price, which will be very high.”

It is quite a turnaround, as the Gunners had always assured they had no intention of parting company with the Togolese striker.

Recent reports had him if anything closer to Barcelona, but the Rossoneri's statements suggest that was never an option in the players' mind.

This does not mean that Milan are set to unveil Adebayor any time soon, though, as they have already baulked at the £32m asking price.

It is believed they could be tempted into making the signature for around £25m, but are unlikely to go above that figure.

Adebayor's timing is excellent, as Milan are further away from bidding for Ronaldinho.

When asked if he would sign the Ronaldinho seen in a recent friendly performance in Brazil, Galliani wondered if he could get away with “no comment.”

There was more bad news for the unfit Brazilian tonight, as Barcelona announced on their official website that they would not allow Ronaldinho to compete in the Beijing Olympics.

“Ronaldinho must attend pre-season training next Monday with Barcelona for the 2008-09 season. The Olympics are not part of the FIFA calendar, so clubs are not obligated to release their players.”

Milan have taken a similar tack with Kaka, although they have released Alexandre Pato.

Roger,

If you honestly think that undermining a source of 'fact' is a strategy particular to me then you're thicker than Glenn was being when he wrote that pathetic, hackneyed and tedious thread.

No doubt you can now find some quote about insults to make you feel all justified and clever...

So you still might be signing Nasri?

Its been called off. Instead we're getting Lloyd 'better than Walcott' Dyer.

It's Nathan Dyer who is better than Walcott.

Galliani is so utterly irritating. He's in the papers *every* single day, saying something or the other about who Milan will sign. And like SG says, he's always going back and forth - "moan moan, we can't afford Adebayor or Drogba"..."yes, we are still interested in Drogba". FFS will someone pls shut him up Rolling Eyes

Marca believes that Barcelona are close to signing Hleb for €15m, this could rise to €18m if certain conditions are achieved.

Hleb practically a done deal according to reports from various sources. I guess it'll be announced whenever our board sorts out their administrative mess.

Kerrea Gilbert joins Leicester on loan

Defender Kerrea Gilbert has joined League One side Leicester City on loan for the 2008/09 season.

21 year-old Gilbert, who has been on Arsenal’s books since the age of 13, became a familiar name to Arsenal supporters during the 2005/06 season, when he made nine first team appearances, spread across all four major competitions.

During his time with the Gunners, Kerrea (pronounced Kerry) has also gained valuable experience with loan spells at Cardiff City, where he spent the entire 2006/07 campaign, and also spent some of last season on loan at League One side Southend United.

Everyone at Arsenal would like to wish Kerrea the best of luck during his time with Leicester City.

http://www.arsenal.com/article.asp?thisNav=News&article=493802&lid=NewsHeadline&Title=Kerrea+Gilbert+joins+Leicester+on+loan

He did well when he had to fill in for the first team a few years back, but I think it's safe to assume that he will be allowed to leave permanently should an offer come in for him. He doesn't seem to have really taken the necessary step up, and at 21 you don't really want to be playing in League One if you have any ambitions of making it at a top side. Best of luck to him there though.
